When I realized I hadn't changed my profile picture in years I decided to take some photos of myself for um....posterity? I hardly ever indulge myself so much as to try and capture an image to represent who I am online, so this is rather special I suppose. If you like one over the others let me know and I'll use it as my main image.I also need a platform from which to update my avatars on other sites I've let go without updating and this seems like a good place to host them. So just for today, I will subject you all to my complete and unabashed vanity. The last one has become my homage to Miss Piggy...even down to the purple eyelids. It just tickles me.
And in the spring I shed my skin
And it blows away with the changing wind
The waters turn from blue to red
As towards the sky I offer it
"Well, Hello Gorgeous !" (to quote Barbara Streisand from Funny Girl)
ReplyDelete#2 or #3. 2 has an Earthy, Don't
Gimme no Bullcrap feel to it. 3
has a dreamy, I'm feeling curious
vibe. Nice pics all around.
What is the significance of
the skeleton key ? Is it an
heirloom from your Granma's
attic ?
hey thanks! 3 & 4 are definitely my favorites for some reason. even though 3 is a little unfocused i really like it.
ReplyDeleteno, sadly, the key is not an heirloom, though maybe i should start telling people it is to add to the mystique/awesomeness. i'm unfortunately not that cool lol. i found it in a shop called "Glimpse of Gaia" in Connecticut. I was going through a rather transformational time in my life. It called to me for a few reasons:
1. I love old things with a history, even if don't know exactly what that is.
2. I'm in love with the aesthetics of old keys. I like when people comment on how it makes them notice how little character our modern keys have.
3. Because it was an evolutionary period for me, I wanted a physical reminder of what I'd been through during my time in the North, and that only I hold the key to my happiness. I can't look to other people to complete my puzzle.
That was crazy long-winded. Good to hear from you again Jamie!
Amen, Sista !
ReplyDeleteIt is good to have a talisman.
There's power in them thar
objects, fer shizzle.
I have been helping my Parents
for years with their room in an
Antique Store co-op. It boils
down to respecting the past,
respecting things that have
stood the test of time. It
sounds like you have embraced
self-respect; which is the
beginning of a beautiful new
friendship with your Self.
You are simply exquisite, my dear. Utterly perfectly beautiful.
